Why Korean skincare is different
Korea treats skincare as pharmacy, not cosmetics. The brands we buy from are drug companies that spent decades on wound healing and then pointed the same research at aging skin.
Centellian24, who make the Madeca creams, are owned by Dongkook Pharmaceutical. They have been extracting Centella Asiatica since 1968 and hold four patents on the extraction alone.
What we look for
An active with a real mechanism, at a concentration that does something. 30,000ppm TECA, not a token amount added so it can go on the label.
And it has to already be working. Madeca Cream has sold over 100 million tubes in a country of 52 million people. That’s repeat purchase, not a launch.
Why it costs less here
A Korean cream that reaches a US shelf has usually passed through a distributor and a retailer, and picked up a markup at each stop.
